Can I Put My Documents to be Shredded in Plastic Bags?

The need for document destruction services has become evident and risen to staggering levels in the past couple decades.  This is, in large part, due to the hundreds of thousands of people falling victim to identity theft and fraud each year.

Document destruction companies make this service very easy for customers by offering on-site shredding, off-site shredding, and public shred events.  One of the things we can do to make these services go more smoothly is to put documents to be shredded in boxes rather than plastic bags.
Boxes not only are easier to transport, they are easier to lift and dump into the cart or hopper of material to go into the shredder.  As documents come in that were put into bags, the bags have to be torn open and dumped out so the plastic doesn’t end up in the knives of the shredding machine.

Many varieties and brands of plastic bags are produced to be extremely durable so trash and lawn debris won’t tear through as they are being thrown away.  This makes it more difficult for the bags to be torn open by hand so the contents can be emptied out.

As you collect sensitive, personal documents to be destroyed, place them into a box with a lid to make the shredding process easier and more convenient.
